Traditional and Modern

There are a lot of reasons people move to the city. Sometimes it is because they want a faster life or to experience new things.

But one huge reason people move to the city is for the beauty of the architecture. The buildings of many cities are very inspiring to some.

And at night, the streets and alleys with all of the architecture bring personality to a city.

One thing that many cities have is cobblestone streets. These are older than other streets, and make a city feel more historical.

Asphalt streets make a city feel more modern than cobblestone streets. More modern cities have asphalt streets.

Another thing that makes a city feel older is brick. Brick is something construction workers built with more in the past.

These days, mostly, they use concrete walls to build cities more than they use bricks. Concrete is much more modern than brick.

Another thing that makes cities feel more modern is skyscrapers. Skyscrapers are buildings that are hundreds of feet tall.

Skyscrapers are mostly covered with large glass windows, but some have concrete walls, too.

Skyscrapers often make for a great view, and many cities have a place for tourists to look at them. This view is called a “skyline.”

Something that makes a city look distinct is the bridges. Bridges like this one look more traditional with its brick and stone.

And bridges like this one look much more modern, which has a lot of metal, concrete and asphalt.

But, of course many cities have both modern and traditional buildings, and that makes a city interesting.
