Small Town Summer for Kids

In the country, this past summer, kids rode their bikes around all day long.

Kids didn’t have school, so they got on their bikes with all of their friends, and they played.

Most parents told their kids to ride with someone else. Riding with friends was important in case something bad happened.

What kids often did was find a place to meet up. They rode to that place to see each other, then they decided what to do next.

Some kids decided to ride their bikes to the lake or a river to swim. Sometimes, they swam all day, and sometimes, they swam for a little while.

One place they often rode their bikes is to town. Riding in to town was fun because they often saw other people they knew.

Or they rode to a park or field to play games like soccer with their friends. For a lot of kids, playing games together was the best part of summer.

Games kept the kids doing things during the summer. When the kids got together and did things like play games, or go swimming, summer was a lot of fun.

Many kids also went to each other’s houses and played video games. Videogames were a very large part of many kids’ lives.

But, of course, at the end of the day, the kids had to go home. Many kids had to be home for dinner time.

And after dinner, a lot of kids hung out even more. It is very common in this small town to gather around a fire.

Something that was also common, this summer in the evenings, was for everyone to get together for a concert in the park.

Or they just got together for a movie night. They stayed up all night watching the movie.

And because the kids were so busy, by the end of the day, they were very ready to go to sleep. And when they slept, they slept very well!
