The Realization of Home Repair
“So son, you moved from the city to the country. How do you like it?”
“I like it a lot! I love the fresh air, the quiet, the safety, and that there is no traffic.”
“I like it a lot! I love the fresh air, the quiet, the safety, and that there is no traffic.”
“But Dad, there is one thing that I really don’t like: all the home repair I have to do. I have to fix everything in my house!”
“Last week there was a hole in my roof, so I climbed up and fixed it. It was hard and a little scary.”
“And just yesterday, there was a leak in the pipes under the sink. I fixed those too! There is too much work in the house!”
“Well, son, it doesn’t get any easier. Do you remember when you were a teenager, and you punched a hole in the wall?”
“You were so mad that you hit the wall as hard as you could, and when I came home from work, I saw it and fixed it.”
“I worked all afternoon to fix that hole, but you never hit the wall again.”
“I remember all of the repairs I had to do on the house when I moved to the country too. That is one thing that is different than the city.”
“And then the tree fell on the fence, and I had to fix that.”
“And then the neighbor kids hit the mailbox with their car, and I had to fix that too. You helped me. Do you remember?”
“Yes I do, and I’m glad I helped you. Now, I can do all the repairs myself. But I guess I didn’t think about that when I moved.”
“So are you glad you moved?”
“Yes. I am glad I moved. I now live closer to you, and now you can teach my daughter to do all of the repairs!”
“Yes. I am glad I moved. I now live closer to you, and now you can teach my daughter to do all of the repairs!”
“Oh, son. I’m a little old for that. But if you need advice, I am only a phone call away.”
