Interacting with the Wind
Wind is a fact of life. Some places have more wind than other places, but all places have wind. For these trees, wind is a big fact of life.
The wind blows from one direction, so the trees prepare for that. The trees’ roots go very deep to help keep them up.
The same is true for this grass. The wind is very strong at the beach, so the roots have to be strong.
The wind makes the waves strong on this beach, and the waves hit against the shore harder, and harder.
In this desert, the wind causes the sand to form into small hills.
The wind also helps to blow the seeds from plants to new places. The seeds will grow into new plants.
The same is true for this wheat. The wind takes the seeds and spreads them to a new place.
Flying in the wind is easier for this bird. The bird just opens its wings, and the wind takes it to a new place.
People also interact with the wind. This little girl is flying a kite in a windy field.
These children are playing with toys in the wind. They are having a lot of fun!
This girl just likes to feel the wind in her face and hair.
People can also use the wind to generate energy. These wind turbines are generating energy on a windy hillside.
This is called a wind farm. On a wind farm, there are a lot of wind turbines that generate electricity for people.
But hills are not the only places with wind turbines. People also put wind turbines in the water.
Wind is a fact of life, and we all interact with it. Some people interact with wind better than others.
